The Sky Arts channels and brand

Sky Arts is all about providing choice – we give arts lovers the content they are passionate about, and make great arts accessible to everyone. The only stable of television channels in the UK dedicated entirely to the arts, Sky Arts screens 24 hours a day across Sky Arts 1 and Sky Arts 2, and their simulcast HD channels Sky Arts 1 HD and Sky Arts 2 HD.
Sky Arts 1's schedule is crammed full of the best contemporary arts programming, such as rock concerts, documentaries, art series and cutting edge films. The likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Killers and Blur provide stunning concert performances on Centre Stage at 9pm every night, while we get up close and personal with celebrities from Damien Hirst to Lily Allen in the intimate interview series, In Confidence.
The channel’s flagship show, The Book Show, is the UK’s leading television programme dedicated solely to books. The biggest names of the literary world from Salman Rushdie, Patricia Cornwell and Terry Pratchett talk to Mariella Frostrup every week, and the show also visits literary festivals across the country.
Classical focus Sky Arts 2 is the home of Sky Arts’ more classical arts content, featuring the best of the world's operas from Met Opera, Glyndebourne and La Scala; the big names from the world of jazz, an eclectic mix of contemporary and classical dance, and concerts with the great conductors like Daniel Barenboim, Gustavo Dudamel and Simon Rattle.
Sky Arts 2 also hosts our theatre series Playhouse: Live which saw five brand new plays commissioned for its 2010 run, and on Sunday nights Oscar nominated director Mike Figgis introduces his favourite art movies in Sky Arts Cinema with Mike Figgis.
audiences – Sky Arts 1 is the younger and edgier channel that you can unleash your wildest ideas onto, whereas Sky Arts 2 demands a classy, glossy, high end production that the very demanding and knowledgeable audience can feast on night after night.
